My Afternoon

It was my last day at work today, so I got to go home early. I decided to enjoy the afternoon by doing something I never get to do. The weather was very pleasant, warm, but perfect in the shade with a light breeze blowing. So I stopped by the local Cold Stone, went outside and while I enjoyed my Mint Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream I spent quite a bit of time reading Twilight (yet again). Oh man it was perfect!

The need to go private

After 5 months of waiting, taking tests, taking a polygraph, interviewing & getting a background check I have finally been offered a job with the Bureau of Investigation for my state! I will be a Fingerprint Examiner Intern starting Monday August 3rd. Technically, so long as layoffs or cutbacks don't effect the Bureau, I will be in this position for a year. After that time they will re-evaluate my performance & the need for an examiner to determine if I will come on as a permanent full time employee. I am so extremely blessed to be given this opportunity! I still cannot believe it. I think the panic and reality of it all will start hitting me the Sunday before. - I guess we'll see.

So since I will be considered a public employee, my records, name and whatnot will be a bit more accessible to the "public" so it's time for my blog to go private. I'll set it up in about a week, at that time I will email all of you who's emails I have. If you wish to be able to still view my blog, you can also reply to this post making sure I have your info.

Shish Kebab Sundays

Mom & dad had a wonderful Sunday dinner this past Sunday. What better way to celebrate summer than with shish kebabs and some light and tasty salads?!? It was wonderfully tasty and we had such a great time laughing and hanging out together. I love my family and our Sunday dinners!

Bailey was having a great time playing with her ball.

I have finally found something that I love to do, and even more remarkable - I have stuck with it! Throughout my whole life I have had many interests...scrapbooking, sports, calligraphy...and aside from the simple acts necessary for survival (eating, sleeping, walking...) I just didn't have the aptitude to stick with any of it. Until I got married, and my monster-in-law sucked me into quilting. I have wanted to learn how to quilt ever since I saw my great-grandmother's quilts...but just never had the drive to actually try it.
So a little over a year ago, having never used a sewing machine in my life, my monster-in-law helped me start this journey. The best thing about learning how to do this, is not only the thrill in LOVING it, but it is so absolutely satisfying that it is something I can share with those I love, with those who need a boost, or even to those I don't know.
I could go on & on about this...but it is late and I have a ton on my mind. So for your aesthetic pleasure I have added pictures to my flickr ...

Our day at the park

Taylor got to show us his skills on his swivel (2 wheeled skateboard)

And so of course Bentley had to try his skills on a small Bentley-sized skateboard

Taylor has also figured out how to ride a bike without hands (going around curves and everything!) so he displayed that skill for us.

And Bentley had free reign to see just how fast he could ride his tricycle.
